Pacific Ocean Sea Mineral Salt

Today the term salt has become synonymous with sodium chloride or ordinary table salt.  However, this is a common misconception, as a salt is formed when a metal (sodium, potassium, magnesium) is joined with a non-metal (chloride, sulphate, phosphate).
Sodium, Potassium and Chloride are not only essential in the formation of salt they are also known as electrolytes as they conduct electricity when dissolved in water.  But why is this significant?  Electrolytes are distributed throughout all body fluids including the blood, lymph as well as the fluid inside and outside of body cells.  They are essential in water balance, muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission and acid-alkali balance.
What makes Sea Mineral Salt such a unique product is the special evaporation process that it undergoes.  This is where the Sodium Chloride level in the salt is lowered and the valued Magnesium, Potassium, Manganese, Iodine and other trace mineral levels are increased.
In the evaporation process much of the Sodium Chloride (white salt) is discarded and a gray salt is formed containing many valued trace minerals.  The gray salt is much lower in Sodium Chloride than white salt, (which is approximately 99.5% Sodium Chloride).  Some salt obtained from the Dead Sea and Brittany have a spectrum of trace minerals but still contain approximately 90% Sodium Chloride.
An excess of Sodium Chloride in the diet is of major concern to suffers of oedema, high blood pressure and heart disease.
You can see just how important these trace minerals are to us, since our soils have been seriously depleted, due to modern farming practices, the presence of trace minerals is scant in our produce. This means that we cannot rely on our foods as a complete source of minerals and trace elements.
Sea Mineral Salt is a beneficial alternative to ordinary table salt and can be added to your cooking for extra flavour as well as an increased trace mineral intake.
